How do we survive and thrive while being unselfish.
We all must be unselfish if we want a surviving and thriving future for all. We all must unselfish ourselves and other humans. We all must stop being selfish! If we want to avoid early extinction for humans and other creatures and avoid greater damage to Earth.
We have a choice to make. Wise choice is a surviving and thriving future for all. Thrive! is a way to change our behavior and change our future to a much better surviving and thriving future. Thrive! is all of us together, a vast human endeavor, building a thriving future for all.
Many, many humans thought that if the human species faced threat of a global disaster, it would unite to stop the threat. To stop the global disaster. Wrong! So very wrong!
For much of human history, it was thought that a global disaster would unite humans in a common cause. Together prevent the disaster. Or worst case, together minimize the damage.
Threat might be from an approaching asteroid. Might be from a deadly virus striking globally and killing millions. While the first one has not happened and may not happen, the last one has. What happened? What does it tell us about the human species and its future?
What happened? Though not even the most deadly and devastating virus that humans might still face, it was very, very bad. Globally, over 550 million were infected by COVID-19. Over 6 million died.
When the moment came to stop the virus early enough to limit deaths to less than 1,000, we failed. When the moment came to mitigate virus’ devastation, we were more divided than united. We failed. Failing even to take easiest of measures (vaccination, masking, physical distancing) to mitigate devastation. To stop the virus from infecting. A preventable global disaster. An unmitigated global disaster.
COVID-19 was the test. We failed the test. Failed miserably.
What does it tell us about the human species? We have the ability to avoid a very, very bad future. But we are likely to have failure of will.
Did we learn anything? Anything likely to give us necessary will to avoid the very, very bad future which is coming? Coming far too quickly. Coming with far too devastating impact on humans, on other creatures and on Earth.
As a species, there is pretty much nothing we learned. Nothing that will sufficiently change our behavior. Nothing that gives us comfort that we will avoid the coming very, very bad future.
Does this have to happen? No!
We can do better. Much better. We have ability to avoid the coming very, very bad future. Have ability to build and achieve a thriving future for all. A much, much better future.
The human species developed great knowledge on how to build a better future. Developed tools and skills necessary to build a better future. Developed resources necessary to build a better future. The human species, as a species, is very smart. Unfortunately, it is often not very wise.
Is there much hope that humans will find the will to avoid a very, very bad future? Find the will to build and achieve a thriving future for all? If we are truly honest with ourselves, the answer is likely no.
Very sad. Very, very sad. How do we explain this or justify this to future generations whose future is a very, very bad future? We can’t. We can only say that we are very, very sorry for the mess we made. For the mess we failed to prevent or clean up when we had the chance.
Future generations should be very, very angry. They should accuse this and past generations of dereliction of duty. They should scream. Should wail. Should mourn the loss of a thriving future.
But there is still a chance. A chance to avoid the coming very, very bad future. To build and achieve a thriving future for all. But it is a rapidly diminishing chance.
A chance if and only if we join together now. Join together as we have never done before. Behave better than we have ever done before.
What will be the legacy of the human species? Will it be failure of will? Will it be loss of thriving future? Or will we, the human species, change enough to achieve a thriving future for all?
As humans and many other creatures face early extinction and Earth is more and more damaged, the Whimseys Angel and Wiley come to Earth. Humans, other creatures, and Earth are living on razor’s edge.
We must change our behavior if we want to avoid early extinction and greater damage to Earth and to build a surviving and thriving future for all.
Over human history, there have been several large and positive changes in human behavior. These changes demonstrate that humans are capable, even more now, to change their behavior sufficient to build and achieve a thriving future for all. Only if humans have the will.
We all must stop being selfish, shortsighted, and stupid if we want a surviving and thriving future for all. If we want to avoid early extinction for humans and other creatures and greater damage to Earth.

Important to understand that early extinction, a terrible outcome, need not be our future. Early extinction, our current path, is our future only if we continue to behave so as to cause this very bad future.
We have a choice to make. A much better choice is the thriving path to a surviving and thriving future. Thrive!, building a thriving future, is a way to change our behavior and change our future to a much better surviving and thriving future for all.

Some humans may survive and thrive longer than other more vulnerable humans. But not long term and only as long as they can take advantage of more vulnerable humans, other creatures and Earth. And not by migrating to other planets.
All humans survive and thrive long term only if all humans, all other creatures and Earth thrive together.
If not, early extinction for humans and many other creatures and great damage to Earth.

Bottom Line: Unless global and immediate positive change in human behavior, highly unlikely that human behavior will change sufficient or soon enough to ensure a surviving and thriving future for humans, other creatures and Earth. www.EndangeredFuture.orgwww.Thrivism.world
To generate type, magnitude/amount and direction of human behavior sufficient to ensure survival and possibly achieve thriving, there would need to be a global catastrophe (or the intensely felt threat of one) of enormous magnitude such that it would ensure sufficient positive human behavior. But it can’t be so enormous as to prevent sufficient positive human behavior, that is, not so enormous that it effectively disables the human species or effectively kills the human species.
Catastrophes of that size might be global nuclear war, global conventional war (e.g. WWII), untreatable bacteria or virus, large asteroid, or global warming or cooling in less than a decade.
Even with a global catastrophe, humans are more likely to address that single issue and then revert as much as they can to previous behavior. Consider human behavior after previous world wars (e.g. WWI, WWII) and worldwide disease outbreaks (e.g. bubonic plague, HIV, flu, cholera).
Not clear what would be human behavior after large asteroid impact or major invasion by non-earth intelligent life. Both have often been subject of science fiction speculation.
What can we do so that all will survive and thrive?
If we stop selfishness and shortsightedness now, the natural human force (the need to survive and the desire to thrive) will fully and positively engage to cause all to survive and thrive forever.
We stop selfishness and shortsightedness when and if and only if:
we care enough about self, everyone, everything else and Earth and
we care enough about today and both near- and long-term future.
If we do, all (people, all other creatures and Earth) will survive and thrive long-term.
Thrivism as a path, a positive belief system, and a positive way of life for a person and people for today and the future, addresses four key elements:
Our nature, as person and people, is our need to survive and desire to thrive in the current world and a thriving future world.
Our relationship with other persons and the surrounding world is driven and governed by our need to survive and desire to thrive in current world and thriving future world.
Our knowledge of our selves and the world comes from 1) inputs resulting from striving to survive and thrive and 2) the mind processing inputs to achieve greater knowledge.
Our actions are driven by our need to survive and desire to thrive but influenced by 1) other persons and surrounding world and 2) our need and desire for a long term, thriving future.
